Ingredients
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cup flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp sea salt, fine to medium grind
- 1 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Mix your softened butter with your sugars until it's creamy. Then add your eggs and vanilla extract until mixed in. In a separate bowl, add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir together lightly. Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients and stir until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. Place parchment paper on your baking sheet and spoon quarter-sized-wide balls of dough, 9 per standard sheet or 12 per larger baking sheet. Bake at 360 degrees for 9 to 10 minutes until brown around the edges but still pale in the middle. After baking, "drop" them on a flat surface so the middle of the cookie "drops." Let rest on the baking sheet for 1 to 2 minutes, then move to a cookie cooling rack. There are a lot of chocolate chips in these, and that molten chocolate needs time to cool!
*If you are using homemade butter, you only need 3/4 cup.
